Scripture Passage - Acts 8:26-40
The focus of the devotions for the last couple of weeks has been developing a closer relationship with God. As we get closer to Him, He speaks to us through His Word and as a result of our prayers. His Spirit prods us to be obedient to what has been learned. As we pray to know His will for our lives, we begin thinking not only of ourselves, but of what He would have us do to bring glory to Him.
In the Scripture today, Philip heard such a call from the Lord. He was told to go in a certain direction on a specific road and he immediately obeyed (vs. 27). On his way, he met an Ethiopian eunuch who was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah. Philip received another divine instruction from the Spirit as he was told to go to the chariot and stay near it (vs. 29). Once again he did as he was asked. As you read the Scripture, you see that Philip was obedient and in the process he was able to lead the Ethiopian eunuch to Christ using Scripture from the old testament.
This is a great example of how God uses us when we pray asking Him to work in our lives and when we listen to Him and obey. Philip followed the Holy Spirits' leading and because of his willingness to serve, a man found Jesus.
He was willing and God did the rest.
There are many opportunities in our church to serve Him. In each position of service, He will use us for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). During quiet time with Him, ask Him to use you and watch what happens!
(Steps to forming a prayer group has been delayed until next week - stay tuned!)
